Happy Tuesday Lovelies! In just two weeks, we’ll be celebrating one of the most loved and most hated holidays! 😉 I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day. I had a few hard ones that made me not enjoy it as much as usual, and I understand some have had some really rough ones as well.
However, ever since I was little, my family always made it a special day about loving each other, and so it’s always been a day I like celebrating! My mom and grandmother would get my brother and I Valentine’s Day candy and my mom would make a heart shaped quiche for dinner along with some type of chocolatey dessert! My dad would also buy my mom roses, which was special since he usually only got them for her on her birthday, their anniversary, and Valentine’s Day. It made me adore roses and receiving them ever since! Even if you don’t have a significant other to celebrate with, I still think it’s a holiday worth celebrating! Our world is in so much need of love and kindness, that a day to celebrate love, even just phileo, brotherly (or sisterly) love, is much needed! Even if you don’t have significant other, you can still have a blast celebrating with friends and family you love!
Statement tops are my absolute favorite! When I saw this lovely blush bardot top on sale for under $30, I knew I had to snag it for Valentine’s Day! It’s soft and feminine, yet not at all plain, with its lovely ruffled sleeves and off-the-shoulder details! I only wish I had seen there was a velvet version of it available! I also see it looking gorgeous styled with some white cropped jeans in the spring! Definitely going to get great cost per wear on this top!!
Since I very infrequently wear very dressy things, or have places to wear them, I often wear a mix of dressy and casual pieces when going for dinner or out with friends, and statement tops are my go-to for looking polished and put-together! They’re so easy to mix with denim and heels! So if you’re stuck on what to wear for Valentine’s Day, definitely give that outfit ‘recipe’ a try! You can even get away with wearing something else that’s fun or makes a statement, like a bag, pair heels, jewelry or even jeans if your top isn’t too busy!
To make your shopping for Valentines Day a bit easier, I’ve linked some gorgeous statement tops, dresses, embellished jeans, and other lovely bits I’ve found below. They range from dressy to casual and would work great wether on a romantic date or a fun girls night out! Let me know if you end up picking up any of them and what you’re planning to wear for Valentine’s Day!

February 1, 2017These are your prettiest photos yet for sure! I love that blouse on you and the flowers added a perfect accent! It’s so fun to hear about your Valentine’s Day traditions! My parents both used to give me cards and candies every year – so I still love those little conversation hearts hehe.

February 1, 2017Yes! Someone who preaches the the statement pieces mixed with the causal pieces! I never have any place to wear such elaborate dresses, so a fun pair of embellished jeans and a fun top is totally my jam. Love how you styled this top for Valentine’s Day! 🙂

February 1, 2017I’ve never had a bad experience with Valentine’s Day! I feel like people are just upset about their love life so they feel the need to diss on the entire holiday. Anyway, I am loving your top here! The pastel pink color of it gives it such a feminine look and having it off shoulder makes it look extra sweet! Such a cute Valentine’s look babe!

February 3, 2017Totally agree with you about Valentine’s Day! My family had similar traditions growing up, so I always look at it as another day to be able express appreciation for those in your life.

February 5, 2017I really have had some rough Valentine’s and it is by no means a favorite of mine, but the way your family has celebrated it is really a great option whether you’re single or not! I love the idea of celebrating love instead!

February 5, 2018Fantastic blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely confused .. Any recommendations? Cheers!

February 23, 2018Hi Shawnee! I would definitely recommend going with WordPress – you have so much more control over your blog and how it looks! And buy your own domain, that way you own your own blog! 🙂 Best of luck and feel free to let me know any other questions you have!
