Happy Friday guys! I’m finally diving into some Paris posts for you! I’ll be sharing our favorite places to eat, what we loved doing, hotel reviews, and more!
For most of our stay in Paris, we had the pleasure of staying in the ‘Étoile’ section. The Place de l’Étoile, also known as the Place Charles de Gaulle, is where the Arc de Triomphe is located, a road junction where 12 roads meet, including the infamous Champs Élysées. It’s located in the 17th arrondissement.
We loved staying so close to the Arc de Triomphe. Walking by it each day as we walked to whatever event or sightseeing destination we had was a fun reminder we were in Paris. Not to mention, like most Parisian architecture and landmarks, it’s magnificent and beautiful to look at!
We also loved how close it was to Champs Élysées. Not only did Champs Élysées have a lot of great shopping, it also had a huge, gorgeous Ladurée and led right to Avenue Montaigne (a major shopping destination) as well as Place de la Concorde with the giant ferris wheel, Roue de Paris.
There were also plenty of great cafes & restaurants nearby, and we felt it was within relatively short walking distance of so many places we wanted to visit, like the Eiffel Tower, Seine River, Louvre, Grand Palais, and more. The area also felt very safe! Even walking back from an event at the Ritz (which is near the Louvre) around 2am, both Ross and I felt comfortable and enjoyed seeing Paris by Starlight.
The hotel we stayed at in the Étoile area for the second part of our stay there was Hotel Balmoral, a charming little hotel tucked away on a quaint little street just a block or so from the Arc de Triomphe. We were given a suite which had three rooms, a living room we walked into, bedroom, and bathroom. I loved how much counter space I had in the bathroom, and we loved having a few tables to use for eating or working! I especially loved our view from the room! We had three mini balconies with French window and they all overlooked the quaint little street the hotel is on. I loved opening the doors and sipping coffee in the morning while enjoying the view!
Every morning we had a lovely buffet breakfast which boasted mini pastries, crepes, eggs, yogurt, fruit jars, cheese, and so many other things. I particularly loved that we were given our very own coffee pot each morning at breakfast. They must have known how much we needed coffee, haha!
There was also a gorgeous little outdoor garden located in the center of the hotel, which made breakfast even lovelier on the days it was nice enough sit out there.
The staff were equally as lovely as the breakfast, always seeing to anything we needed and even trying to help me with my French and giving us information on things to do nearby. One of my favorite things we did was visit Galeries Lafayette the last day of our trip, which was just a a 30-ish minute walk from Hotel Balmoral. Galeries Lafayette is like a giant department store with everything you can imagine, from a Chanel boutique with exclusives to fun, budget friendly shopping for almost anything you could want. I got this pair of Aquazurra shoes and couldn’t help but get a photo of them hanging from one of the balconies in our room!
