Happy Tuesday! Does anyone else’s style change a bit for the warmer months? I don’t mean the kind of change from sweaters to short sleeve tops… There’s something about the spring weather that gets me a bit more adventurous in my wardrobe. I wear a lot of basics in the fall and winter months, and tend to stick to a very neutral color palette. And while basics and neutrals will always be a large part of my wardrobe, I definitely tend to branch out in the spring and summer. I’m thoroughly enjoying adding flouncy ruffles, fun prints & florals, lovely colors, and statement sleeves – the topic of today’s post!
When I saw this top, I immediately though of Audrey Hepburn in ‘My Fair Lady’. Audrey will always be one of my favorite actresses and style icons. I love how she always looked elegant. Even her everyday style, though much more simple and minimalistic than how she dressed for events, was always effortlessly chic and had a simplistic elegance. And her style when dressing up was just stunning. Always. I love how this look is kind of a fusion of those two sides of her style, and can’t wait to wear it more while out and about this summer!
Another thing I love about this top is that it’s only $22, but you can’t even tell! I actually had a blogger friend ask me if it was a designer brand! Nope, Forever 21 nailed it again. While I love investing in good quality pieces for my wardrobe when I can, I also love finding great pieces in high street stores. Especially for trendier/bolder pieces that I might not get as much wear out of as say, my denim or black cross body, which I wear all the time. Forever 21, Abercrombie & Fitch (I know, this one still surprises me! They’re really upped their game recently though!), and H&M are my go-to high-street stores for finds like this. The only down-side is that they sell out of items fast, which means the pressure is on for me to try to shoot and blog about these pieces ASAP when I find them so you guys can still find them! This top is actually sold out in the white with black stripes color, but there are still some available in the opposite version of it (black with white stripes). So act fast if you want this in your wardrobe for the coming months!
