Hey guys! Happy Wednesday! So I’m sure you gathered from alll of my posts and stories on IG that I fell head over heels for Paris… I seriously don’t know how someone couldn’t. The city is MAGICAL.
However, we also got to escape the city a few times during our trip and loved those escapes too! Our first was to La Defense. If you don’t know, La Defense is located right outside of Paris. It’s a a major business district that houses dozens of skyscrapers and an open air modern art museum. It’s a short train ride from the center of Paris and can be a fun escape if you’re staying at a nice hotel, which we were!
We had the pleasure of staying at the Melia Paris La Defense, and were immediately blown away by the hospitality. We were greeted by Medhi, who kindly helped us settle in in the VIP lounge with some drinks and snacks from their gourmet snack bar. Shortly after he gave us a wonderful tour of the hotel. He shared how he loves working in hospitality and hopes to do so for many years, and how part of why he loves it is because he sees it as an art. It was clearly evident he did in how he treated us during our stay, the hospitality was 5 star!
During the tour, we were able to see all the hotel had to offer, including breathtaking views, and learn a bit about the inspiration behind the art and design choices. I loved that the carpets, which had yellow and red curved lines running up and down them, were inspired by the red and yellow lights of traffic you could see from the hotel after sunset…
When we arrived in our room, we were greeted by a beautiful artistic creation from the chef and a bottle of champagne. We felt so spoiled, as was the case during our entire stay with the Melia! The room boasted the lovely view we had seen during the tour, and we loved being able to look out the window (which was huge, it encompassed half of the walls in the room!) and out over what seemed like all of Paris. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, with a couch, table, and beautiful bathroom!
Later that evening we dined in the on sight restaurant, Le Miroir, which in French means ‘the mirror’. You can see below how it got that name, as it’s decorated with mirrors in a beautiful and artistic way! The views from the restaurant were gorgeous, and we loved being able to watch the Eiffel Tower light up and cars drive across the Seine far below as we dined.
The second morning of our stay, we had a wonderful breakfast in bed, complete with mini pastries and nutella, a necessity in Paris! We also loved that we each got our own pot of coffee – also a necessity when blogging and traveling, as sleep is a luxury!
We were sad to end our stay at the Melia, but were impressed that the service remained nothing short of the best even as we checked out. A taxi was arranged for us, our bags were taken to the car for us, and we were sent off with the warmest goodbye. And we know that the next time we need an escape from Paris, the Melia Paris La Defense is the place to go for a relaxing and lovely place to stay!

April 11, 2018I have never been to Paris, but as far as the other trips I’ve taken, I too love an escape from the city every now and then. Sometimes these places can end up being just as amazing as the actual city! I am so glad you were able to experience 5 star hospitality treatment. That always make the stay that much more enjoyable. Sounds like I need to visit Melia Paris La Defense the second I get a chance!
