Happy Thursday! We’re alllllmost to Friday guys! It’s been one of those weeks… I’m already counting down the days until my spring break in April! One of the perks of teaching is that you actually still get one of those! I’m also excited for the weather to normalize a bit, which it hopefully will as we get closer to April! I can’t believe it was in the 70s yesterday, yet it’s supposed to be in the 30s tomorrow!
I’m also extremely excited to be continuing on with my capsule wardrobe series, and I’m so glad so many of you found it interesting and liked it! I’m also (I know I keep saying excited, but I really am) excited to share the next few pieces in the series, including this one I’m sharing today: The Classic Blazer.
This is actually a recent addition to my wardrobe, but I am now 110% convinced that everyone needs one of these in their basic capsule wardrobe! As I’m approaching my 27th birthday, I’m starting to gravitate towards pieces that look a bit more smart and polished. Usually, well-tailored pieces give this look, and the classic blazer is no exception. When looking for gorgeous blazers or inspiration on how to wear them, one can’t help but find the iconic Balmain blazers, if you aren’t already looking them up to begin with. (if you aren’t familiar with them, here are a few gorgeous examples: one, two, three) I was thrilled when I found the blazer I’m wearing in this post, not just because it is gorgeous and great quality, but because it looks so similar to this Balmain blazer while literally being less than 1/18th of the price.
When I got it and tried it on, I instantly fell in love. It literally takes any outfit I wear it over, and makes it look 10x more sophisticated and polished! While you certainly don’t need to buy this exact blazer, I still think a good blazer is an essential in any wardrobe. A blazer and a classic white button up are probable the easiest tailored pieces to style, especially if you’re just starting to introduce more tailored pieces into your wardrobe. My favorite way to style the blazer, is how I styled it here. But there are so many other ways you could style a blazer! Here are a few ideas that would look stunning and classy with a black blazer, although you could certainly make them work with other colors!
1) Wear it over a semi-casual blouse, with jeans and pumps. (the look in today’s post)
2) Wear it over a plain white tee, with cropped jeans and white sneakers
3) Wear it over a lacy cami, with distressed boyfriend jeans and kitten heels
4) Wear it over a solid-colored cocktail dress, with strappy heels in the same color
5) Wear it over a black turtleneck with black jeans & boots, and gold accents
Hopefully this gives you some great ideas on how to style a blazer, if you already have one! If you don’t, I’ve linked the one I’m wearing here and some other great options right below. I’ve also been pinning more lately, and have pinned some lovely looks with blazers recently, so make sure to head over and follow me on Pinterest to see those looks and all my latest style loves!
Let me know in the comments below if you are a blazer-lover, or if you aren’t, if I made any progress in converting you into one! 😉

March 8, 2017Love a good blazer! I feel like people often struggle with how to dress them down and I love how you styled it in your photos! The hardware is so pretty too, adds a bit of a pop compared to classic buttons!

March 8, 2017If someone knows how to make a blazer to look good, it has to be you. I love the elegant buttons on it too! The fact that you get a spring break would make some people envious, but having a mother who used to be a teacher I know how hard you work so I’m actually amazed you even have time for blogging!
Great job sweetie!

March 9, 2017You’re now making me totally regret the fact that I just sold my only blazer. It was such a cute boyfriend blazer, but I never seemed to find a good way to style it. I guess my style is too casual? But I’ve seen people rock them even with cutoff shorts and everything, so that’s a major OOPS on my part haha! This blazer looks stunning on you. And what a great dupe for the Balmain!

March 10, 2017Absolutely love blazers! Plus, Balmain is just so captivating. This Revolve blazer is such a great dupe for the Balmain blazer you linked! I also really like how you styled it more on the causal side, but also explained how to dress it up. Everyone seriously needs a staple blazer in their closet.
